Continuing Education – Multimedia
I am now a graduate of the Multimedia Bootcamp, a weeklong intensive program at UNC Chapel Hill. The week was very valuable from the standpoint of learning about integration of all the various elements of multimedia, namely still photos, text, audio, video, graphics, design, and interactivity. Multimedia is an extremely intensive area and the best way to produce quality work is to have a team working together to complete a particular piece. Advanced planning including storyboarding is also key.
Very interesting. Quibbles are that it was very expensive, and that I knew most of the basic Flash, design, photo editing, and website skills that we were taught already. However, the intro to video was intense and I learned alot. A week like this has to be broad because the students will come in with varying levels of experience. Again, the best part was the greater understanding I have now of the many steps necessary in producing a high functioning interactive multimedia web site for journalism.
