Tribe of Ghosts: Inner Light

This portrait series looks at the lives of people with albinism who are living in the Kabanga Protectorate Center in Tanzania. Albino people are attacked and persecuted over the color of their skin in east African and particularly so in Tanzania. Attacks by witch doctors, who use albino body parts in potions said to bring riches, have led the government to place children and adults with albinism into centers for their own safety. Reviled and ostracized by their society, these portraits offer a chance to show the inner beauty and grace of a persecuted people.
